The purpose of this job is to operate equipment and perform manual work functions associated with cleaning sewer lines and manholes. Duties include, but are not limited to, operating/maintaining equipment; performing laboring activities; assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining water/sewer mains and lines; and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualified applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ø Skill in use of various tools such as a sewer rod, cutter, air compressor, pipe saw, and metal detector;
Ø Skill in the construction, maintenance and repair of sewer lines and mains;
Ø Skill in the operation of a vac-con truck; and
Ø Skill in the operation of various machinery and equipment including a front-end loader, dump truck, back hoe, sewer rodding machine and jackhammer, etc.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with one year of pipeline construction, equipment operation, plumbing, or related experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must posses a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within six months. This position is a safety sensitive position. It will be included in random drug testing as per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
WORK HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; summer schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; subject to call back 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
